Liverpool 2 Man Utd 1

Liverpool finally registered a win in the BPL over the Champion after 4 years. It was a long overdue win for the Reds.

Torres and Gerrard started the game on the bech while Man Utd was missing Ronaldo. However new boy Berbatov was handed his debut.
All it took was 3 minutes for Man Utd to crave open the host's defence open. A through ball to Berbatov on the right, he ran passed Aurelio and fired a low cross to Tevez and he placed the ball expertly beyond the reach of Reina. A dream start for the Champion.
One would wonder where Liverpool's goal will come with the absence of their top 2 men. Against the run of play, Alonso weak shot deflected a Man Utd's player and Van De Sar hurried out his goalline and parried the ball. Unfortunately the ball bounced off Wes Brown's shin and into the net. Liverpool's own new boy Riera was close to Brown when the own goal was scored. Perhaps Riera proved he was indeed a lucky charm.

From there on, Liverpool began to dominate the proceeding. They hussle and control the midfield picking up the loose balls.
Liverpool started the second half in the way they ended the first. They were rewarded when Mascherano robbed Giggs off the ball and Kuyt laid ball to Babel who made no mistake.
Vidic was sent off for his second bookable offence when he clashed onto Alonso.
Man Utd goal's expose Liverpool weakness on the full backs. Both Aurelio and Arbeloa are probably the weaknest link in the defence. They lack pace and are often caught out of position. Opposition would like to expose the two full backs when playing against Liverpool.
Kuyt has once again prove he will not bring 20 goals a season for Liverpool. He missed 2 or 3 glorious chance to put Liverpool further ahead. His weak were either weak or straight to Van De Sar.
I would like to see Phillip Lam and Roque Santa Cruz to be in Liverpool's shopping list come Janauary.
